Introduction to 3D Print Casting
$540
This course introduces the integration of digital fabrication and glass casting processes. Students will learn foundational techniques in 3D scanning, modeling, and printing alongside mold-making strategies for translating digitally produced forms into cast glass objects. Emphasis is placed on material compatibility, mold construction, casting methods for complex three-dimensional forms, and finishing techniques.
As an introductory project, students will scan their own head produce a 3D-printed model, and cast a scaled glass bust, providing a comprehensive overview of the digital-to-glass workflow.
The course welcomes students new to either digital fabrication or glass, as well as those seeking to expand existing studio practices.
